Batband Headphones
bone conduction sonic UX
Batband is an exciting new development in wearable communication technology. It uses a process of cranial tissue (bone) conduction to transfer audio through the head rather than the ears.
We were really honoured to be approached by Studio Banana Things and their industrial design partners Postler Ferguson to identify and explore the audio capabilities and sonic experience of the headset. Our role was to create a suite of UI sounds for the hardware interactions together and exploring the capabilities of bone conduction technology. We also collaborated with the software team to creat demonstration audio to experience the effects and sensation of the device fully. This is a super project and unique approach to sound design, using a mixture of haptic sensations and spatial audio. Batband should be available this summer.
